Circular Needles
Circular needles are essential for projects worked in the round, such as hats and sweaters where they eliminate the need for seams. However, they can be used for both flat and circular knitting and accommodate a large number of stitches more comfortably than straight needles.
Double Pointed Needles
Double-pointed needles are used for projects with small circumferences worked in the round, like sleeves, socks, and mittens. They facilitate seamless knitting in a continuous spiral, offering stability and control. Some knitters will use ‘magic loop’ with circular needles instead.
