It can be difficult to know how much yarn you need before starting a kntting project. It is mainly dependent on your gauge.

This yarn calculator gives an estimate of yarn needed for an average sweater based on the circumference (bust size + ease) and gauge in stitches. If you also give the yardage of the yarn then we can give the number of skeins.

The is only an estimation of an average but we have added 10% to be on the safe side. But if you knit the sweater extra long then you will probably need more. If you want the know the amount of yarn needed for an AlmaKnit pattern then a more accurate estimate is given when you finish your design in the webapp.
