Very light sweater with a saddle shoulder and 3/4 balloon sleeves.
Germain sweater is the sister of the Germain Cardigan and thereby also named after the French mathematician, physicist and philosopher Sophie Germain (1776-1831). Her primary work was within number theory and she has lent her name to the Sophie Germain primes. Today these find use in cryptography and are used to generate pseudo-random numbers.
The sweater is light and airy - perfect over a summer dress. It has an ease of 12 cm, short balloon sleeves and narrow rib edges.
I am 162 cm (5' 4") tall and my Germain sweater has a back length of 47 cm. The bust measurement is 105 cm (ie. the sweater has a circumference of 117 cm). The sweater is knitted in 2 threads of Algasoie from Plassard in the colour 10. I used 6 skeins for my size.
The gauge is 15 stitches x 19 rows per 10 x 10 cm (approx. 4 x 4 inches) on 7 mm needles. The sweater is knitted from the top down in one piece. The neckline is shaped using short rows. The sweater is adjusted to your measurements.
