Clara Eggers x AlmaKnit
When you click buy, you will be sent to the pattern builder webapp. All the features will have been selected for this design and you just need to input your measurements. You can also choose to adjust the design as you want.
The starting point for my AlmaKnit design was that I needed a roll neck sweater in my wardrobe. One that could be used both with jeans but also drapes beautifully over a dress. My style is in many ways hyper-feminine and playful and several of my favourite dresses have puffed sleeves or ruffles, so the sleeves of the sweater should leave room for that but still be elegant. This is why subtle balloon sleeves with long cuffs were chosen.
My AlmaKnit design has an ease of 15 cm, the neck is tall but not too close-fitting. The sweater is knitted from the top down: First the roll neck, then the neckline is shaped with short rows and then the yoke with the nice saddle shoulder construction. Then you decide whether you want to knit the body before the sleeves or the other way around. I have used both Italian cast on and off because I think it is a nice detail and also increases the elasticity (and thereby comfort). I have knitted all my rib edges in twisted rib (yep both knits and purls) and on the same needle as the rest of the project so that they didn't get too tight. Comfort is very decisive for whether I use my knits.
My sweater is knitted in one thread of merino and one thread of silk mohair from Knitting for Olive, both in the colour 'Soft Rose' and my gauge is 25 sts x 35 r = 10 x 10 cm. I used 5 skeins of merino and needed to start the 6th of silk mohair. Use the yarn estimator to know how much you will need. This is just for inspiration because the magical thing is that you can choose exactly the yarn you dream of. Make a gauge swatch, measure your gauge (tension) and input it together with your measurements via the button above. Et voila - then you receive a personal Clara Eggers x AlmaKnit pattern which fits exactly to your gauge.
Last but not least I want to mention that I love the design in its simplicity but it is obviously a canvas for experimentation with embroidery on knits. I have embroidered flowers on the yoke under the neckline using my merino scraps (with lots of help from YouTube where you can find all sorts of inspiration, for example this lovely Daisy Flower) and it was also my first try (so you can do it too!).
I hope you want to knit "my" AlmaKnit sweater. In any case, I am very very happy with mine.
